We bought this carseat after a long search and talking to several people at baby stores. It is the only seat that we have found at any price that will actually fit in on the back bench seat of a extended cab pickup truck. We don't use it very much, only a few times a week, but it has held up well over about 2 years or so, including shipping it on an airline (and we all know how well THOSE guys like to treat things). Haven't had a problem yet. And honestly, even if we did I would be forced to buy it again because, like I said, it is the only one that fits properly in the back of the truck...
Customer Review: Functionally good, but the styrofoam padding breaks easily
I've had the Graco Cargo Platinum for about 2 years now - got it for my son when he was about 2-1/2. Pluses: Comfy for the child Removable cup/toy holders. Reasonable cost Lightweight Decent looking Cover comes off so it can be cleaned easily. Buckles operate & adjust easily. Minus: We've had to replace the styrofoam padding twice on this seat because it got broken, probably from flexing as the child climbs in and gets in position. Behind the cover is a U-shaped piece of styrofoam (um, "EPS energy absorbing foam"), covering the back and wrapping the around the side bolsters. So when the child grabs onto the sides they may flex and break. The replacement cost from Graco is reasonable - about $15 - but it seems that such a safety-related part shouldn't be so fragile in normal usage.
